Echuca Gardens


Selected and featured on Getaway, Echuca Gardens is a centrally located combination of self contained units. Choose between the Heritage Victoria approved gypsy wagons (2 persons), the guesthouse (4 persons) or the 140 year old woodcutters cottage (6-10 persons) Your hosts Kym and Kaiser (the affiable German Shepherd) extend you a most warm welcome.

Echuca Gardens Gypsy Wagons.

Constructed under the guidance of Heritage Victoria, the wagons are a unique reproduction of travelling gypsy wagons at the end 19th century.

Historical accuracy however does not stand in the way of 21st century comforts though. Your wagons have separate kitchenette/dining/entertainment room, bedroom (with traditional high double bed) and convenient separate en-suite. Additional comfort by reverse cycle air conditions.

Located to the rear of the property and surrounded by amazing gardens, your wagon option allows you a most unique experience in total privacy.

Echuca Gardens Guesthouse.

Located within, but separated from the host’s home (with own private access) the guesthouse comprises 2 double bedded ensuite rooms, each with their own balcony with views into the gardens below. Own kitchenette for preparing snacks or the option of bar-b-que in the water gardens.

Not suitable for children or pets.

Echuca Gardens Cottage.

The self contained accommodation is a 140 year old, fully restored Victorian timber cutters cottage. Operating primarily as a 10 bed YHA Hostel, it can be booked for exclusive use by familes and small groups operating on a cost effective budget.

High pressed metal ceilings compliment the polished floors and log fires. The cottage has 3 bedrooms (2X4 bunk rooms plus small double), wood fires, fully equiped kitchen, separate lounge and dining area, laundry and two bathrooms. Linen and blankets are provided on a self service basis.
Children and pets permitted.

Each of these accommodaiton options are surrounded by gardens and murals and within walking distance to the river, historic port and town centre. Spa and sauana facilities are available at an additional cost.

Please note;
There is a minimum 2 night booking at all times (3/4 nights long weekends/peak season). Single nights are only accepted within 72 hours prior to arrival (subject to availability) and to be made by phoning Echuca Gardens directly.

Getting There

By car- 2.5 hours directly north of Melbourne. Follow the northern highway through Heathcote.
Public transport-train/bus connections (6 daily) from Melbourne (contact V/Line for timetables).
Daily bus service through to Adelaide, Sydney and Brisbane.

All public transport is through the visitor information centre-a 10 minute walk or $7 taxi ride.

Parking

On street parking at front of property, secured by motion lights and video cameras.

Things To Do

The historic port of Echuca (walking distance from Echuca Gardens)is home to the largest collection of paddlesteamers in the world.

Descend into the underground bar and escape tunnel(during the time of prohibition); watch the many working artisans at work in wood and metal; explore the many curiosity shops and art galleries; sample the many wines on offer which are produced in the area or go fishing, swimming, canoeing or water skiing on the Mighty Murray River.

Nearby are the magnificent Barmah forests, home to some of the oldest and largest redgum trees in the world. Explore the forest on a Kingfisher cruise or learn of the aboriginal history.

Visit the reknowned nearby Kyabram fauna park.
You will be delighted with the shopping, the pampering and the relaxation that a break in Echuca can offer.
